Great News Fellow FCC Members:
With the announcement of the new gradual reopening plan from the Province of Ontario, we are allowed to resume curling starting Monday January 31st.
We will complete the last 2 weeks of the second session playing games scheduled from Monday Jan 31 to Friday Feb 11th. Session 3 will start on Monday Feb 14th as planned.
Covid Protocols are basically the same. It remains extremely important that we obey masking, sanitizing and social distancing practices as before. Masks are mandatory in warm areas (clubroom, locker rooms and washrooms) except when you are actively eating or drinking. Bar protocols are back to previous normal- 10PM drink order and 11PM closing restrictions have been removed. Masks are optional in the ice area. Please do your best to maintain social distancing during the game.
Sign in protocols have changed and Screeners will be needed for every league to follow through with these changes. Please come a little earlier as this will involve more time. In addition to your CurlON QR Code, you will also need to bring your Ontario Proof of Vaccination QR Code to be scanned every time you enter the building. Proof of ID may also be required. It is essential that each league have a Screener so Conveners will be looking for volunteers to help with this important screening process- a great opportunity for you to get your volunteer hours in.
We understand that there may be members who do not feel comfortable returning to play on Jan 31st. If this includes you, please feel free to contact firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know your intentions. We will then notify the conveners of the league you were signed up for so they can make other arrangements for your team.
Your Board of Directors is looking forward to seeing you all back on the ice.
The Fergus Curling Club was established in 1834 and has operated every year since making it the oldest continuously operating curling club in Ontario.
We are a four sheet club of 260 members. There is a club room, bar, kitchen, and locker rooms. Much of the work around the club is voluntary with the exception of ice-making and caretaking.
The club is managed by a nine person board of directors elected annually from the general membership.
AGM April 24 starting immediately after the championship games
Now that the COVID restrictions are being lifted, the clubroom and ice are available for rental again.
For dates and times of our leagues please see: The League Play page.
The club is using the five rock rule as defined by the Canadian Curling Association. The rule (rule 12) is excerpted in the Leagues section above.
Signup forms will be available at the open house. Deadline for signup is November 4th.
