The Fergus Curling Club

The Fergus Curling Club was established in 1834 and has operated every year since making it the oldest continuously operating curling club in Ontario.

We are a four sheet club of 260 members. There is a club room, bar, kitchen, and locker rooms. Much of the work around the club is voluntary with the exception of ice-making and caretaking.

The club is managed by a nine person board of directors elected annually from the general membership.

An End Of An Era

For 35 years Chris Taylor has run an in-club bonspiel in memory of her late husband Bill. At the bonspiel on April 6 she announced that she was retiring from this duty and In those years she has raised around $30,000.00 for the Lung Association. At this last bonspiel she was surrounded by family and many friends who have dedicated many hours to making this bonspiel a success. As a highlight of this bonspiel players were encouraged to bring their skates to "skate out" the ice as all ice making equipment is turned off for another successful year at the Fergus Curling Club.

Last Billy Taylor Bonspiel

The winner of the bonspiel was L to R: Philip Chester skip, Joyce Giddings second, Douglas Russell lead and Greg Lustic vice with Chris Taylor on the far left.
