Season Opener Bonspiel
Bonspiel season is upon the Fergus Curling Club for another winter. Curling is a wonderful way to ward off the winter blues. You meet great people and form new friendships as well as being indoors away from the winter weather. The club has run a course called "Curling 101" for many years in which qualified instructors teach newcomers to the sport the proper way to curl and curling etiquette. This year 40 people signed up for the course which culminates in a 2 game 6 end bonspiel and 17 were in this bonspiel. The course is headed by Chris Taylor with help from other volunteers. In this bonspiel two experienced curlers are teamed up with two new curlers for a fun day and good food. This years winners with 31 1/2 points was L to R: Chris Laitar second, Dawna Laitar lead, Shannon Curran vice-skip and Tim Hitchcock who was the team skip.
